Unusual Alusi Figure
Female shrine figure with an unusual black surface, body scarification and side braids. The hands are positioned to accept offerings. Alusi figures (deity figures) honor certain spirits worshiped in the Igbo religion. This figure was found in a storage unit where it had been kept untouched since 1974.
