Authentic Art and Ethnographic Objects From Africa / Custom Mounting Services
For the Kuba people of the DRC, consumption of palm wine is a strictly social activity. Cups such as this one provided a means for the Kuba to forge special relationships within the community and consolidate unity. These vessels served a social function and were valued accessories. This cup, with a honeycomb incised pattern, was collected in Kinshasa before 1973 by former U.S. ambassador Robert Keating.
