Somali Single-Post Headrest
Classic Somali single-pillar headrest with arched cradle. The form evokes lathe-turned Ethiopian headrests, but this object was nevertheless carved entirely freehand. The underside of the cradle has a longitudinal central ridge that bifurcates as it approaches the shaft. The planes on either side of this ridge are incised with diagonal lines.
