Mumuye Figure with Slender Torso
The long, slender torso on this male Mumuye figure is one charming stylistic trait amongst a variety of sculptural forms carved by the Mumuye. Other identifiable characteristics that render this 18″ figure a fine exemplar of 19th-20th century Benue River Valley artifacts are the geometrically notched legs, engravings on the face and torso, and deep black patina.
