This well used doll is published as item #482 in Thomas G. B. Wheelock’s Land of the Flying Masks: Art and Culture in Burkina Faso. It is described as coming from the North Central Region of Burkina Faso, an area that has changed enormously since this lovely figurine was field collected sometime in the 1970s or ’80s.
