Authentic Art and Ethnographic Objects From Africa / Custom Mounting Services
The Kuba carved and utilized a wide array of wooden boxes: crescent-shaped tukula powder storage containers, skeuomorphic basket- or pottery-form vessels, and multipurpose, deeply engraved boxes. These boxes took various forms and shapes. One such kind of Kuba carvings was the razor box, used for carrying the tools for facial scarification rites. This box bears traces of tukula cosmetic powder on the wood of the interior. Ex Sidney and Gae Berman.
