Kaguru Shrine Figure
Shrine figure from the Kaguru people of central Tanzania. The ancestral or spiritual figure stands atop a four-legged stool carved of the same wood. One of his hands clasps the other’s wrist; this coupled with his thoughtful expression give the piece a distinct personality.
