Janus-Faced Fly Whisk
Intended for practical use, fly whisks were also often artistically embellished and even used in ceremonial performances. This fly whisk features a remarkably carved two-toned wooden handle, the Janus-faced figure at the top donning an elaborate headcrest. The whisk, made of black horse hair, is attached to the wooden handle with animal hide and wound fiber. From the Grassfields region of Cameroon; likely Bamileke.
