Authentic Art and Ethnographic Objects From Africa / Custom Mounting Services
This 7″ Kamba necklace to the colonial period or shortly thereafter. It was imported to the United States by Joe and Margaret Knopfelmacher who established Craft Caravan, a New York storefront and wholesaler specializing in ethnographic objects from West and East Africa. The collar is largely made of recycled aluminum, expertly hammered, shaped and incised into seamlessly interlocking halves. This style of necklaces is no longer worn among the Kamba, unmounted.
