Authentic Art and Ethnographic Objects From Africa / Custom Mounting Services
Beautiful ceremonial headdress from the Idoma people of Nigeria’s Benue State. The face is strikingly painted, with patterned facial carvings set atop an elongated neck and fiber-wound headpiece. The Idoma are known for facial ornamentation on ritual masks and headpieces; a similar Idoma piece can be found here. The black streaks on this work could be tear marks.
