Figural Lobi Slingshot
Figural slingshot made of white metal from the Lobi of Burkina Faso. Slingshots were traditionally utilized during the hunting of smaller game, primarily birds. They are also often played with by children. The Lobi made figural slingshots out of wood or metal, and regarded the objects as talismans of the hunt. This is a very beautiful, striking piece of anthropomorphically designed metalwork. Ex Joseph Knopfelmacher collection.
