Delicate Head
A number of delicate heads with fine finishes and thin walls appeared on the market a few years after dealers from Niger began importing Bura terracottas to the U.S. Unlike most Bura heads, these were hollow core and appeared to be fashioned from a brittle black clay. A small number of complete or nearly complete anthropomorphic vessels appeared around the same time, with the heads surmounting integral, similarly finished spherical vessels.
