Chaga Snuff Container with Watch Chain
Snuff container from the Chaga people of Tanzania. Snuff containers were personal objects which would have belonged to an individual, hence the loop on the side of the container, called a lug, which allows the bottle to be carried around or worn on a lanyard. This snuff container, made of animal horn, is embellished with a watch chain hanging off of its metal lug.
