Babalawo Necklace with Crucifix
The Babalawo is a priest of the Yoruba belief system, but being Yoruba historically meant being a speaker of Yoruba, an ethnic Yoruba and a follower of the Yoruba faith. However, as Westernization and Christianity made inroads into Yoruba communities, there was some blurring of these lines, hence the crucifix symbol on the insignia of a Babalawo priest.
