Authentic Art and Ethnographic Objects From Africa / Custom Mounting Services
Unlike the color and texture of this vessel, its form is reminiscent of ancient Dogon pottery. The color, quality of the fired clay, and the texture closely resemble pottery of the Bura culture. The intact condition of this vessel suggest that it was used in a ceremonial setting and left at a ritual site as an offering. The hip of the vessel caries a pattern of incised, parallel zigzags around its entire circumference. This is a uniquely beautiful vessel.
