Anago-Yoruba Puppet Mask
In the top part of this superstructure, one female figure is husking a coconut while another prepares food. The latter figure can be animated to raise and lower the lid on a pot. The lower half of the mask is the embodiment of the costumed performer, whereas the top is the story being presented by the masker. Other examples by the same maker can be found in World In Motion: Gelede Puppets of the Anago-Yoruba by Hans Witte, pg 50. This scene may be missing an element, perhaps a brazier.
