Unusual Tanzanian Mask

This mask is a bit of an anomaly in style and form. It was exported from Tanzania during in the 1990s when older, used and therefore authentic masks were plentiful and fakes were rare, typically fantastical and easy to detect. Lacking ears and with inverted pyramidal eyes and an open oval mouth, this mask doesn’t align with known mask styles from the region. It does however shows signs of use, but none of the signs of manipulation to create an illusion of use or age. $500
