Human-Antelope Hybrid Mask

Ritual mask from the Ogoni people of southeastern Nigeria blending anthropomorphic and zoomorphic elements. The ridged antlers/horns, coupled with the menacing smile, are exceptional and unique attributes of this mask. In typical Ogoni fashion, the eyes are carved like slits, and raised facial ornamentation is carved onto the temples and forehead. A rare and beautiful mask.
