Igbo Okoroshi mask with hybrid anthropomorphic and zoomorphic qualities. The face conforms to classical Okoroshi elements, as described by Herbert Cole and Chike Aniakor in Igbo Arts: Community and Cosmos: “small, symmetrical, fine-featured and delicate” features and the use of white pigment. The opened mouth, slanted eyes, narrow chin and black-lined design across the face are also recognizable Okoroshi traits. The dramatic, geometric ears give the mask a playful and charismatic charm. Note the use of red pigment in addition to the typical black and white.
